I started October with two new dividend buys:
- First I bought 27 more shares of Unilever (ULVR), this is one of my ultra-safe foundation stocks that I want to own a lot more of.
- Next I bought 16 more shares of Van de Velde (VAN), this is one of my small cap stocks that I like a lot.
These two purchases increase my annual dividend income by 50.26EUR (after taxes), plus Van de Velde is paying out an extra interim dividend in November so that’s an additional 16.2EUR in dividend income next month.
Nice start of the month.
For my play-money-dividend-option part of my investments, I have my eye on Unilver as well. I wait for the right time to pick up this stock.

I’d like to get Unilever a bit cheaper too, but I figured I could either leave this money in a savings account with a yield of under 1 percent or get the Unilever shares now and get a net yield of 2.47% that grows every year.
Funnily enough, when I look back at my stock purchases of the last year or so, it seems the ones I thought of as expensive ended up performing much better than the ones I thought were cheap π

That is an alternate way to look at the buy or wait question…compare to a svaings account… I guess you need to add some other parameters as well, otherwise you would buy the whole market π
Anyway, I wrote a put on unilver. Lets see what happens.

True, it doesn’t take a lot to beat a savings account these days π

DAC,
2.5% net yield is my go-to entry yield for most foreign stocks. Considering that Unilever is such a safe bet and the fact that the company increases its dividend by 6-7% each year, you’ll quickly see your yield-on-cost grow.
Good purchase!

Hi Dac
Nice buys to start the month. I also want to buy some more Unilever and Van De Velde but I also want to get my hands on Solvay ( or maybe Solvac).
Cheers,

Solvac is trading at quite a big discount which indeed results in a big difference in dividend yield versus Solvay but I heard it’s quite a nuisance to buy these shares because they have to be registered in the shareholder register under your name… My broker (Binck) doesn’t offer them.

DAC,
Kinda jealous of your purchases! Did you manage to pick up ULVR before it climbed back up? I was tempted to add to my position too because I simply love the company and its prospects. Next time there’s a small dip, I’ll be throwing more money at the stock for sure.
Best wishes,

They’ve already moved a bit back up indeed. My all-in price for my latest purchase was 36.69EUR per share and ULVR is now trading around 37.47EUR.
